"The survey of just over 5,000 U.S. adults found that 84% said they had used YouTube, the highest amount of any platform. For context, the next-highest percentage, (71%) goes to Facebook. These two platforms dominate social media usage, per the survey, with about half of U.S. adults saying they visit YouTube and/or Facebook daily."
"Meanwhile, some smaller/newer social media sites showed some adult user respondents, too. Meta's Threads, a real-time microblogging social site akin to the original Twitter, had 8% of U.S. adults say they had ever used the site. This shows the highest amount among the three smaller platforms. The other two are Twitter-founder Jack Dorsey's Bluesky, also a real-time microblogging social site akin to the original Twitter (4% of U.S. adults), and President Donald Trump's Truth Social (3% U.S. adults)."
"Pew also found notable age differences in the users of each social site, even between YouTube and Facebook. While both sites are the only two platforms found to be used by a majority in all age groups, Facebook's main user base still skews decidedly older (30-49 year olds are its biggest percentage of users, followed by people 65 and over) than the video platform."
84% of U.S. adults have used YouTube, the highest share among major social platforms. Facebook is used by 71% of U.S. adults. About half of U.S. adults report visiting YouTube and/or Facebook daily. Meta's Threads has been used by 8% of U.S. adults; Bluesky by 4%; Truth Social by 3%. Facebook's user base skews older, with the largest percentages in ages 30–49 and then 65 and over. Adults under 30 are more likely to use Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, Reddit, and YouTube; 68% of 18–29-year-olds report using Facebook.
