Target is facing backlash for collaborating with influencer Kai Cenat to launch his Tone personal care line, amid a boycott from Black consumers. Social media scrutiny has centered on the brand's attempts to attract younger shoppers during its 2025 wellness campaign while also responding to criticism over dismantling DEI initiatives. Users allege that the partnership with Cenat is a superficial tactic to win back Black shoppers without genuine apologies. Boycotts have reportedly impacted the company’s in-store sales significantly, prompting accusations that Target views the Black community as a target for marketing rather than addressing serious issues.
Target trying so hard to get black people back in stores without hardcore apologizing. They let Kai and AMP have a sleepover in the store. Idc how many influencers they pay, still not shopping there,✨
Target doing anything to get black ppl money again and yall falling for it smh.
Target is making it very clear they think the Black community can be bought... especially through influencers. What they're missing is that the people who are actually carrying the boycott, the ones hitting their sales, aren't the type to be swayed by that.
