Kick It Out received record-high reports of discrimination during the 2024-25 season, with a significant rise in sexism, transphobia, and faith-based abuse. Total incidents reported reached 1,398, marking the highest ever recorded.
Reports of sexism and misogyny soared by 67%, increasing from 115 in the previous season to 192. Faith-based abuse rose from 117 to 132, and transphobia incidents doubled from 22 to 44.
The increase in reports includes a doubling of incidents involving girls' football to 31, with youth reports rising to a record high of 186. Racism incidents in the professional game, however, increased from 223 to 245.
Kick It Out's chief executive Samuel Okafor emphasized that discrimination remains deeply embedded in the game, stating the uptick in youth football abuse should serve as a wake-up call and calling for stronger measures against online harassment.
