Ronaldo quits Brazil federation presidency race
Briefly

Ronaldo has decided to withdraw from the presidential race of Brazil's football association after facing significant resistance from regional federations, with most expressing support for the incumbent president, Ednaldo Rodrigues. Despite his ambitious plans to revive the prestige of Brazil's national team, Ronaldo encountered 'closed doors' in discussions, which led to his disappointment over the lack of dialogue. He acknowledged the existing electoral structure favored the incumbent, making his candidacy untenable, and now Rodrigues is the likely sole candidate for the upcoming election.
On my first contact with the 27 regional federations, I found 23 closed doors. The federations refused to receive me in their homes, on the grounds of their satisfaction with the current administration and support for Rodrigues' re-election.
I respect the right of federation leaders to maintain their support for Rodrigues, but I am disappointed there was no openness to dialogue.
The statute gives the federations the strongest vote, so it's clear that there's no way I can run. I was unable to present my project, put forward my ideas and listen to them as I would have liked.
Ronaldo had pledged to recover the prestige of the national team when he announced his original intention to stand.
