The Nigerian players and officials reported being kept in a locked airport for more than 16 hours, about 220 kilometers from their intended destination, Benghazi.
Captain William Troost-Ekong had said that the team would not make a three-hour bus journey in the unstable country for safety reasons, accusing the Libyan authorities of 'mind games.'
The LFF stated, 'We firmly reject any claims that suggest foul play or sabotage in this situation,' urging Nigeria to be understanding about the travel disruptions.
The Libyan federation emphasized that such incidents are inconsistent with their values, rejecting the notion of deliberate orchestration of the travel issues faced by the Nigerian team.
