“I’ve loved football since I was a child and this love still flows through my veins,” said Youssef, highlighting his lifelong passion for the sport despite immense personal loss.
“It was a shock [but] I couldn’t afford to give up... amputees suffer society’s perception. Some mock us, others pity us,” Youssef reflects on societal attitudes he faced after losing his leg.
“Being back on the pitch is an indescribable feeling,” Youssef shared, emphasizing the hope and camaraderie he found with fellow amputees in his football team.
“These 333 heroes - men, women and children - will compete,” demonstrates the determination and resilience of athletes participating in the local Paralympics, fostering unity and strength.
