Howe finally beats Guardiola - how Newcastle stopped Man City
""we don't have anything new left""
""I've got lists and lists of things that haven't worked against them so I could probably tell you what doesn't," Howe said. "Telling you what does is a very small piece of paper, but you just try and learn from experience and just tweak something the next time. That's what we did.""
Eddie Howe analysed Newcastle's performance after a 3-1 loss at Brentford and spent hours reviewing footage and training to find solutions. Howe kept a 4-3-3 shape while making targeted personnel changes: Bruno Guimaraes moved to a central midfield role, Lewis Hall and Tino Livramento started together for the first time since September, and Fabian Schar returned in central defence. Training focused on rediscovering energy and athleticism within a smaller group. Newcastle delivered a 2-1 win at St James' Park, securing Howe's first Premier League victory over Pep Guardiola's Manchester City on his 17th attempt.
