Marinakis was found guilty of improper conduct after spitting on the floor in front of match officials, according to an independent regulatory commission's ruling.
The commission stated that Marinakis’ spitting was an 'egregious display of disrespectful behaviour' that could impact the respect for match officials.
Despite Marinakis claiming the spitting was unintentional due to a cough, the commission dismissed his defense based on officials' statements and CCTV evidence.
Following the match against Brighton, Nottingham Forest's manager also faced disciplinary action for swearing at officials, resulting in a three-match touchline ban.
