Ex-Spain and Barcelona left-back Alba to retire
"The time has come to close a truly meaningful chapter in my life,"
"I've decided to bring my professional football career to an end at the conclusion to this season. I do so with complete conviction, with peace, and with happiness."
Jordi Alba, aged 36, will retire from professional football at the end of the current Major League Soccer season. He won Euro 2012 with Spain and the Champions League with Barcelona. He joined Inter Miami in 2023, reuniting with former teammates Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and Luis Suárez. Inter Miami have qualified for the MLS play-offs, which are scheduled to conclude in early December. Alba announced his decision in a video, saying he ends his career with conviction, peace and happiness. He previously retired from international football in 2023 after 93 appearances for Spain.
