Evans confirms retirement to take up coaching role

Corry Evans has retired from professional football and joined the Northern Ireland Under-21s coaching staff under manager Tommy Wright. He earned 72 caps for Northern Ireland, scored twice, and last played in June 2024 in a 2-0 friendly win against Andorra in Murcia. He captained the national team on his 50th cap against Bosnia-Herzegovina in 2018 and featured at Euro 2016 alongside his older brother Jonny. His club career included Manchester United academy, loans at Carlisle and Hull, a permanent move to Hull, 206 appearances for Blackburn Rovers, then spells at Sunderland, Bradford City, and Oldham Athletic, finishing with Oldham’s National League play-off promotion.
