Anthony Gordon is expected to leave Newcastle this summer, with Eddie Howe giving a clear indication while discussing next-year planning. Gordon returned to full fitness after a hip injury but was not included in the starting XI against Brighton or Nottingham Forest. Asked about whether his absence relates to Gordon not being at St James’ Park next season, Howe said the club looks ahead at this stage and that Gordon’s situation is part of that future view. Howe would play Gordon against West Ham if it benefits the team. Newcastle are 13th in the Premier League and have struggled to replace Alexander Isak’s goals, but Howe said the club is not looking to buy another striker because striker numbers are healthy and players are available despite fitness and form issues.
