Eberechi Eze: Arsenal beat Tottenham to Crystal Palace forward for 60m - reports
Briefly

Eberechi Eze is set to join Arsenal for £60m after Crystal Palace agreed terms to sell him to Spurs, but the 27-year-old prefers Arsenal and aims to finalise the move before the September 1 deadline. Eze scored in the FA Cup final on May 17 and has 40 goals in 168 appearances for Palace since joining from QPR for £19.5m in 2020. Last season he produced 14 goals and 11 assists in 43 matches, operating chiefly on the left with a roaming role. Kai Havertz's knee injury increased Arsenal's urgency. Eze combines dribbling, incisive passing and creative freedom.
Arsenal are on the verge of signing Crystal Palace forward Eberechi Eze for £60 million, according to multiple reports. The Eagles agreed a deal to sell Eze to Spurs on Wednesday but the 27-year-old prefers Arsenal and wants to complete a move before the transfer window closes on September 1, outlets including BBC Sport have said. England international Eze has 40 goals in 168 appearances for Palace, having joined from Queens Park Rangers in a deal worth £19.5m in 2020.
South London-born Eze joined Arsenal's academy as an eight-year-old and was released at 13 before making his name at QPR between 2016 and 2020, becoming the Championship side's player of the year and players' player of the year in 2019/20. Eze's performances have long seen him linked with a return to Arsenal, but Tottenham had been poised to sign the player who scored his most recent goal against Manchester City in the FA Cup final on May 17, earning Palace their first major trophy.
One of the most impressive attacking midfielders operating in the division, Eze contributed 14 goals and 11 assists in 43 matches in all competitions last season, with the Eagles preferring to use him on the left but giving their second-top scorer a roaming role. An expert dribbler with an eye for an incisive pass, Eze finished on 11 goals and six assists in 31 games in 2023/24. Six days before the FA Cup final, Eze netted twice in three minutes in a 2-0 win at Tottenham as part of a run of 12 direct goal involvements in 12 games.
