Sergio Busquets announced he will retire at the end of the 2025 Major League Soccer season. Sergio Ramos paid tribute, calling Busquets 'one of the most brilliant midfielders' he ever played with and praising his class, vision, humility and authenticity. Ramos and Busquets were teammates on Spain teams that won the 2010 World Cup and the 2008 and 2012 European Championships. Busquets made over 700 appearances across 18 seasons for Barça, winning nine LaLiga titles, three Champions League trophies and seven Spanish Cups before joining Inter Miami in 2023. Barcelona described Busquets as 'a legend' and thanked him for his football.
