Stewart made 16 appearances for Preston prior to joining Thun on an initial loan in January, then completed a permanent move in the summer. Dons manager Johnnie Jackson described Stewart as a versatile, enthusiastic and energetic forward who showed immediate willingness to join Wimbledon.
