Villa Zokusu Mori, designed by Ashida Architect & Associates, is a rental villa nestled in the Kurokura mountains of Japan. It harmonizes with the changing seasons through its innovative use of materials and elevated structure. The villa's steel-frame design allows it to withstand heavy winter snowfall, while its spacious undercroft creates a warm outdoor environment in summer. Thick cedar snow fences promote usability, and the interior's white finishes enhance the experience of immersing in the snow-covered landscape, providing a unique connection to the extreme weather of the region.
Unlike conventional snow-country structures, which rely on heavy concrete bases to bear the weight of winter, Zokusu Mori Villa employs a steel-frame rigid structure, maintaining both strength and lightness.
The idea was to provide the luxury of spending a warm moment in a pure white world, a unique experience that can only be found in snowy regions.
