Lake Tahoe boat capsizes; 6 dead, 2 missing
Briefly

A tragic boat capsizing incident in Lake Tahoe on June 21 resulted in the deaths of six adults, with two more individuals still unaccounted for. The 27-foot Chris-Craft overturned near D.L. Bliss State Park amid waves reaching up to 10 feet, attributed to sudden north winds. Emergency responders successfully rescued two individuals, but they could not save the others. The Coast Guard and sheriff's teams conducted overnight searches into the evening, planning to resume in the morning as rescue efforts continued.
At the time, waves were reaching 8 feet, the El Dorado County sheriff's office said. Witnesses told emergency responders that sudden north winds in the late afternoon whipped up the waves, creating 8- to 10-foot troughs.
A seasonal lifeguard and a ranger were able to get two people to shore, where they began resuscitation efforts. As of 10 p.m. Saturday, six were confirmed dead.
