San Jose is considering the development of two large data centers at 350 West Trimble Road. This site, previously designated for a mixed-use village and tech manufacturing, is near an area where Microsoft is also planning data centers. The property was sold to Microsoft by LBA Realty in 2021. Previous proposals for the site were halted due to the pandemic, after which LBA attempted to introduce advanced manufacturing plans. The new project, if approved, could transform the area into a prominent data hub within the Bay Area.
The tech and data hubs would be built at and near 350 West Trimble Road in north San Jose on a site between Orchard Parkway and the Guadalupe River.
If this project is approved, this section of north San Jose could become akin to a data village in the Bay Area's largest city.
Microsoft is eyeing its own data centers on property the tech titan owns.
In 2021, LBA sold about 30.6 acres to Microsoft for $78.7 million. Microsoft has proposed the development of two big data centers on the acreage that the tech titan bought.
