Roger Himovitz acquired the historic Rancho Dos Pueblos property in 2021, aiming to preserve its rich Native American and archaeological history. He established the Dos Pueblos Institute as part of his vision to transform the ranch into a public resource. However, due to serious health problems, Himovitz is now putting the land on the market for $65 million after facing challenges in managing it. Initially bought for $33 million, the property has a complex history and is seen as a key to preserving the area's cultural heritage.
There's a lot of history going back to early human existence—a lot of Native American history—and I believe that this particular property holds the key to the preservation of this part of California.
One of the first things he did as the estate's owner was to found the Dos Pueblos Institute, whose mission is to transform the ranch into a public resource managed by the nonprofit.
