Matthew Muller, a notorious convict known for his violent crimes, was sentenced to life imprisonment for two home invasion sexual assaults that occurred in Mountain View and Palo Alto more than 15 years ago. In 2009, Muller attacked women in their homes, using drugs and physical restraint, but was ultimately persuaded by his victims to cease his assaults. His criminal activities escalated with the 2015 kidnapping of Denise Huskins, which led to his arrest and subsequent convictions. The cases remained unsolved for years before Muller was apprehended and linked to them.
In the early hours of Sept. 29, 2009, Muller broke into a woman's Mountain View home, attacked her, tied her up, made her drink a concoction of medications, and said he was going to rape her.
On Oct. 18, 2009, Muller broke into a Palo Alto home, bound and gagged a woman in her 30s and made her drink Nyquil. He then began to assault her, before being persuaded to stop.
