The Happy Hound in Los Gatos, a classic American diner, has served loyal customers for 54 years with a menu of hamburgers, hot dogs, and milkshakes. Family-owned since its inception, the diner has preserved its original recipes and methods despite minor vegetarian accommodations. Co-owner Derek Quinet emphasizes maintaining traditional flavors and portions. The diner has deep roots, starting from a previous establishment in Danville, founded by Dorothy Dresslar, who was later supported by her ex-husband Hugh to realize its full potential. The diner’s enduring charm lies in its consistency and the friendliness of its staff, which fosters long-lasting customer relationships.
I've been coming here for over 40 years. I like everything about the place. The food has always been great, but the employees are what keeps me coming back - there are some wonderful people here.
We've added things here and there to accommodate vegetarians. But we haven't changed where we get our food, how we prep it or how we serve it. The flavors and portions never change. We want people to leave happy.
