Nigel Jones cried when he finally removed the paper covering the windows at 2300A Valdez St., the home of Calabash, the new Oakland restaurant he opened with Hanif Sadr of Komaaj in San Francisco.Three years in the making, Calabash is the Kingston 11 chef-owner's vision for the restaurant of now: A multiculturally-driven gathering place that's open all day, serves high-quality breakfast dishes and an afternoon menu of Afro-Caribbean-inspired entrees and sandwiches alongside Sadr's Northern Iranian dips, sides and salads.
