Gene Hackman was born in San Bernardino, saw tough times there
Briefly

Gene Hackman, the celebrated actor, has passed away at the age of 95, alongside his wife, in what appears to be a perplexing incident under investigation. Both were found unresponsive in their Santa Fe home on February 26. Hackman's birth, discussed in obituaries, took place in San Bernardino, California, on January 30, 1930, during the economic challenges of the Great Depression. Although he spent only a year there, he acknowledged his roots during a past interview, expressing pride in being Californian, which he cherished amidst a demographic largely from elsewhere.
"I was only there for a year, Hackman said. I don't really think of San Bernardino as being my hometown, but yeah, I tell people I was born there."
"With Gene's birth, the household expanded to nine people. The Hackmans were here only one year, though, before relocating to Danville, Illinois."
