A New Cheese Trail Is Launching Along Route 66-With Stops Across 8 States

The Route 66 Cheese Trail will launch this spring, featuring self-guided tours across eight states. Developed by the New Mexico Cheese Guild in collaboration with the California Cheese Trail, the initiative aims to attract cheese enthusiasts and support small-scale food production. The trail will include visits to local dairies and cheese shops, emphasizing regional ingredients and heritage food practices. It seeks to provide travelers with authentic culinary experiences as Route 66 celebrates its 100th anniversary.
