Rare northern lights appear to be visible over Bay Area county
Briefly

Marin County resident Jenny Montañez witnessed a faint red glow of aurora borealis on Sept. 12, visible farther south than expected due to a geomagnetic storm.
Dylan Flynn explained that although red auroras are not unprecedented, their appearance in Northern California is uncommon and typically limited to higher latitudes.
Astronomer Ben Burress noted that the photograph captured by Montañez indeed shows aurora activity, as the color and patterns align with known auroral phenomena.
