Witness Sandhya Gupta described the assault onboard the United Flight 2247 as extremely violent, stating, 'This wasn't like a bar room, I'm going to throw a couple of punches around, I mean this was vicious.'
The victim, who was deaf and non-verbal, allegedly communicated with flight attendants through text message, conveying confusion regarding the unprovoked nature of the assault.
Gupta vividly recalled the scene, noting, 'This doctor was just like trying to stop the bleeding, his face was just a mess. It was awful.'
The FBI affidavit indicates that both the assailant, Everett Chad Nelson, and his victim did not know each other prior to the incident.
