Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen reflects on his mission its challenges and its joy | CBC News
"I would have loved to have gotten to space earlier, obviously. But NASA's space program changed. The shuttle ended and the moon program at that time got significantly delayed and then it morphed. Some of that was challenging, but also, you have to just make the best of it. And I really enjoyed the journey along the way."
"Launching and the ride uphill was just so fun. I mean, I just really enjoyed it. I just found myself loving it. I was just thinking about that moment. And I was having a lot of fun."
Jeremy Hansen waited 16 years for his space mission, initially recruited in 2009. He trained in Houston and faced delays due to changes in NASA's program. Ultimately, he launched on NASA's Space Launch System rocket, which is more powerful than previous systems. Hansen enjoyed the launch experience and focused on the moment rather than the wait. He acknowledged the common issue of space sickness among astronauts, with 60 to 80 percent experiencing it during missions.
