The Bay Area's Aug-tober heat wave, which was expected to ease, continues to pose dangers, with temperatures nearing 110 degrees and an extended excessive heat warning in effect.
"The big picture still remains the same: high pressure overhead and clear skies are contributing to another impactful day with dangerous heat," stated the National Weather Service.
Meteorologist Crystal Oudit explained, "Temperatures decrease by a couple of degrees each day into the weekend, with significant relief expected by Monday for coastal areas."
The persistent heat has raised fire risks in baked forests and brush, and while winds are light, the threat will last into the following week.
