A Needham native is among the Boeing Starliner astronauts 'not stuck' in space
Briefly

Astronaut Sunita Williams called in from space last month to the Needham elementary school named after her, answering questions from students. Now, she's been in orbit for over three weeks with no set timeline for her return.
"We're not stuck on ISS," said Mark Nappi, Boeing's VP for Commercial Crew Program. He reassured that Williams and Wilmore are not in danger and will return without increased risk.
Needham renamed their elementary school in 2019 to honor Sunita Williams, marking the town's first school named after a woman of color. Williams, born in Ohio, considers Needham her hometown.
Boeing's Starliner had issues during an unmanned test flight in 2019, failing to reach the space station. NASA contracted both Boeing and SpaceX to design next-gen spaceships, with SpaceX already sending astronauts to space in 2020.
