Massachusetts shark expert Gregory Skomal stated that great white sharks can be expected along the Massachusetts coast, acknowledging their presence around Crane Beach.
While this recent sighting is significant, it is one of multiple great white shark sightings reported in the area over the past year.
The Atlantic White Shark Conservancy's app corroborated the sighting, indicating its first report not occurring off Cape Cod in recent days.
