Giants place Thairo Estrada and Taylor Rogers on waivers
Briefly

Placing players on waivers isn't the same as designating them for assignment. If they go unclaimed, they stay on the Giants' roster.
With new trade deadline rules, if a player is claimed, the Giants cannot negotiate a trade. They simply lose that player without recourse.
Any team claiming Estrada, Rogers, or Matzek must accept their contracts, which includes Estrada's $850,000 for two years of arbitration.
Rogers is owed around $2.15 million this year, plus $12 million next year; his evaluation hinges on the performance metrics seen by teams.
