Collin Graf leads AHL rookies with 20 assists among 26 points. He’s earned his NHL call-up as he’s shown strong performance this season, especially in penalty killing. Coach Ryan Warsofsky says call-ups are earned based on performance, and Graf’s commitment to improvement and faster play have been key factors in this opportunity.
"They explained it to me just that [they are] not sure if I'm going to play," Graf said. "I'm just preparing like I'm going to play and see what happens." His readiness and mindset reflect his commitment to making the most of the NHL opportunity.
"At the end of the day, it's about earning call-ups and ice time. That's what the standard is going to be here," Warsofsky said. "Since Mike [Grier] came in we've really talked a lot about is you got to earn what you get. And I think Colin Graf has earned this call-up."
"The biggest thing is pace of play. [I'm trying to play] faster. I think that's been the biggest thing I've worked on," Graf shared, reflecting on his development and adaptation to the challenges of the AHL and potential NHL play.
