They're at the point in the schedule where they need to beat those bad teams, yes, but they damn sure need to beat the good teams, too. Because there's work to be done and not a lot of time to do it.
A dominant series might not put the Giants in postseason position, though, as two teams stand between San Francisco and Atlanta: the St. Louis Cardinals, who are also 1.5 games back but currently have the tiebreaker; and the New York Mets, who are just a half-game behind Atlanta.
