Marco Luciano, Bryce Eldridge among first round of Spring Training cuts
Briefly

The San Francisco Giants reassigned eight players, notable among them prospects Marco Luciano and Bryce Eldridge, to minor league camp to focus on development. Luciano, struggling with performance, is in his last option year; getting him more playing time in the minors may help his progression. Eldridge, despite being a headline prospect, also shows weaknesses and isn't ready for the major league pressure. This move allows the team to solidify its roster, prioritize veteran contributions, and assess upcoming talent without the immediate burden of maintaining a competitive standing.
Luciano is just 2-17 with 5 strikeouts and an error... getting him back in a development situation today... is the best way to answer that question for tomorrow.
Eldridge is still working on his first base defense... probably not ideal to have him continue in a major league environment right now.
The Giants basically moved off two high profile development cases so that they could focus on that rather than worry about making the team.
The major league roster looks like it's solidifying itself quite nicely as veterans assume roles that prospects can't yet fill.
