Joey Bart, the highest draft pick by the Giants in more than three decades, was designated for assignment on Sunday morning after Patrick Bailey took over as the organization’s starter catcher.
Bart played 162 games over four seasons, batting .219 with 11 homers, never quite tapping into the talent that made him an intriguing prospect due to injuries and lack of consistent opportunity.
