Kyle Shanahan: 49ers working in Malik Mustapha on defense; Talanoa Hufanga update
Briefly

Head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed after the game that the plan was to gradually work Mustapha into the defensive rotation, splitting time with veteran George Odum. Despite the shared duties, Mustapha ended up playing the most snaps of the two, while Odum was limited to 23.
Mustapha did shine in one area-tackling. His 82.2 tackling grade was second-best on the team, trailing only cornerback Deommodore Lenoir, who earned an 85.7 grade in that category. While Mustapha's overall defensive performance remains a work in progress, his ability to wrap up ball carriers shows promise.
