"I knew how good he is from playing against him," Shanahan said at the Dwight Clark Legacy Series event last week. "But I had to get to know him. And I had to tell him: 'Don't bring any of your own staff. I already have the dudes here I want you to work with.'"
The team is entering Year 7 under Shanahan, who's now the sixth-longest tenured NFL head coach. Consider that the average NFL head coach's tenure since 1990 has lasted about 69 games, and Shanahan has already coached 98 regular-season contests.
