49ers lock up No. 1 seed in NFC postseason
Briefly

San Francisco (12-4) quarterback and MVP hopeful Brock Purdy bounced back after a rough outing in Week 16 by going 22-of-28 passing for 230 yards and two touchdowns against Washington. One of those scores went to Brandon Aiyuk, who led his team with seven receptions for 114 yards. Purdy also broke the 49ers' franchise single-season passing record. His 4,280 yards overtook Jeff Garcia's 2000 output and Steve Young's 1998 numbers.
The Eagles (11-5) had a chance to remain in the hunt for the NFC's top playoff spot but faltered against a resilient 4-12 Cardinals team at home. Arizona quarterback Kyler Murray was 25-of-31 passing for 232 yards and three touchdowns. Cardinals running back James Conner 's two-yard score with 32 seconds remaining was the difference.
