The 49ers claimed former New York Jets running back Israel Abanikanda off waivers to fill the spot left open by Christian McCaffrey's season-ending injury.
Abanikanda, a 2023 fifth-round pick from the University of Pittsburgh, rushed for 1,431 yards in his junior year but has seen limited action during his rookie year.
