"One-score games are all Alfred Collins and his fellow 49ers rookies know about the NFL, five tense games into their careers. I'm just happy we're winning, Collins said Tuesday. We find ways to win, and in my opinion, that's special. Both the 49ers and the Buccaneers enter Sunday's game in Tampa Bay with 4-1 records, by virtue of one-score games each week to this point."
"Before last season's 6-10 freefall, the 49ers were 5-5 with all five defeats within one score. The 49ers were 24-34 under Kyle Shanahan in one-score games until this season's 4-1 reversal of fortune. Ironically, their last one-score win last season was 23-20 at Tampa Bay. It came on Jake Moody's 44-yard field goal as time expired in a Nov. 10 game, known more infamously for Moody's initial three misses that incited a sideline confrontation between Deebo Samuel, Taybor Pepper and Moody."
"The Bucs' start this season is even more historic. Tampa Bay is the first team in NFL history to secure its first four wins on last-minute scores. Alfred Collins and fellow 49ers rookies have played only one-score games through their first five NFL appearances. Collins forced and recovered a fumble at the 1-yard line with a minute remaining to help secure a 26-23 win over the Rams, then participated in the gang tackle that ended overtime on a fourth-down stop. The 49ers reversed prior one-score struggles, improving to 4-1 after a 24-34 record in such games under Kyle Shanahan and a 6-10 season. Tampa Bay also reached 4-1, becoming the first NFL team to start 4-0 with last-minute scores, setting up a Sunday matchup in Tampa Bay.
