The San Francisco 49ers have cut their roster down to 53 players and now have the crucial task of filling their 2024 practice squad with up to 16 players.
NFL regulations require that of the practice squad players, at least 10 must be rookies or second-year players, while the remaining six can have any experience level.
Once the waiver process is completed, the 49ers can start adding players to their practice squad, including the recent addition of rookie quarterback Tanner Mordecai.
Teams have the option to elevate up to two practice squad players for gameday without adding them to the active roster, with a limit of three elevations per player throughout the season.
