Southwest Airlines changes terminals at SFO
Briefly

Southwest Airlines has officially moved from Harvey Milk Terminal 1 to Terminal 2 at San Francisco International Airport (SFO). While maintaining the same number of gates, this relocation aims to enhance passenger convenience, allowing for shorter walking distances to gates. This move comes after Alaska Airlines transitioned to Terminal 1, prompting the airport to request Southwest's relocation. The newly positioned check-in counter is located near several dining options, and Southwest continues to offer eight nonstop flights, with new services planned for Baltimore and Nashville soon.
The relocation doesn't change Southwest's overall presence at SFO - the airline had five gates in Terminal 1 and is expected to continue operating five gates in Terminal 2.
With the move, Customers will enjoy a shorter walk from our ticket counter to our gates, said Dan Landson, a representative for Southwest.
The main reason for the move is to better balance the use of the facilities since Alaska moved to Harvey Milk Terminal 1.
Southwest Airlines runs eight nonstop flights from SFO, and, starting in the summer, it's adding nonstop flights to Baltimore and Nashville.
