SF's Embarcadero Plaza to get $35 million facelift funded by private-public partnership
Briefly

The Embarcadero Plaza in San Francisco is set for a $35 million renovation, with a community meeting held to gather input on the redesign. Advocates assert that the project is crucial for rejuvenating a neglected space and re-establishing it as a vibrant center connecting the Ferry Building to the city's downtown. Despite support, concerns over the project's cost and timing persist. Improvements include a new green space, retail kiosks, a musician's stage, and public art, aimed at transforming the currently dilapidated plaza into a welcoming environment.
"It's dilapidated. It has sunken brick. It has a fountain that hasn't worked in a decade," said San Francisco Supervisor Danny Sauter.
"It's going to have beautiful new green space. It's going to have kiosks for retail. It's going to have a new stage for musicians. It's going to have public art," Sauter said.
