Conservatory of Flowers is located at 100 John F Kennedy Dr. in Golden Gate Park and contains nearly 2,000 plant species from more than 50 countries. The wood-and-glass greenhouse opened in 1879 and remains the oldest existing conservatory of its kind in the Western Hemisphere. Regular hours are Thursday through Tuesday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with last entry at 4:00 p.m.; the facility is closed Wednesdays and on Thanksgiving, December 25, and January 1. Admission is free for San Francisco residents and free for everyone on the first Tuesday of each month. Museums for All provides free or reduced admission to qualifying San Francisco residents who receive public benefits, and free admission is offered to military and veterans and children 4 and under. A nightly winter light show, Photosynthesis, begins 30 minutes after sunset and runs about 30 minutes. The conservatory will be closed for annual maintenance January 22 through February 5, 2025.
