San Jose firefighters battle one-alarm blaze at scrap metals yard

The blaze erupted before 8 a.m. at Mega Metals & Iron, a scrap metals, recycling and junkyard. Fire crews had gained the upper hand by 9 a.m.
Firefighters also evacuated a homeless encampment established along railroad tracks next to the metal yard, according to San Jose Fire Battalion Chief Dan Vega.
Battalion Chief Vega stated, 'There's a lot of scrap metal in there and we had to get to the bottom of the pile to get the fire out.'
