San Francisco saves big on infamous Noe Valley public restroom

When San Francisco first announced plans for the toilet in 2022, residents balked at the estimated cost, saying that $1.7 million was far too much to spend on a single toilet housed in a 150-square-foot building.
San Francisco Recreation and Parks spokesperson Tamara Aparton told SFGATE that the initial $1.7 million price tag was a "very, very rough and early estimate" that was "high in order to account for unforeseen circumstances and contingencies."
