Popular fashion retailer Zara to open new flagship store in SF's Union Square, mayor says
Briefly

Zara, the global fashion retailer, is set to open a new flagship store in San Francisco's Union Square, despite having previously announced the closure of its existing store. Mayor Daniel Lurie confirmed the expansion via social media, emphasizing the city's commitment to a positive business environment. The new flagship will be located at 400 Post St., significantly larger than the current store at 250 Post St., and is expected to occupy a four-story building owned by Zara's founder that has remained vacant since 2021.
In a tweet on X, Mayor Lurie wrote, "Zara is opening a flagship store in Union Square! This expansion is another vote of confidence in our city."
The current store at 250 Post St. is reportedly expected to close next year as Zara moves to a new, larger location.
The new spot will be twice as big with Mayor Lurie saying it will be in a four-story building, enhancing the retail presence of Zara.
The new location is in a building owned by Zara's founder and has been vacant since DSW left back in 2021.
