Police officials reported that a 56-year-old Bronx man, identified as Alhadji Fofana, was killed in a hit-and-run collision at East 163rd Street.
Witnesses described the incident, stating they saw Fofana attempting to cross the street in the crosswalk just before the van struck him.
Authorities indicated that the hit-and-run driver was in a 2008 Ford van, which was later found abandoned with an attempt to set it on fire.
As the investigation unfolds, police have confirmed that the van involved in the collision had been reported stolen prior to the accident.
