A man tragically drowned while trying to rescue a dog at Ocean Beach, San Francisco, on May 8. Witnesses saw him rush into the water and later collapse in the surf. Although two women saved him and called for help, the man succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, even after CPR and advanced life support measures were administered by emergency responders. The dog he attempted to save managed to swim back to shore safely. The incident serves as a warning against entering dangerous waters to rescue someone or a pet.
Ocean Rescue arrived on the scene two minutes after dispatch and initiated CPR. Despite their efforts, the man later died at the hospital.
Two women who witnessed the incident entered the water and pulled him back to shore. They performed 'life-saving measures' and called 911.
