At around 4:32 am, Berkeley police responded to a report of an individual pinned under a vehicle in Aquatic Park, leading to the discovery of a fatal incident.
A witness reported attempting to push the car off the victim, who was found to be asleep in a sleeping bag at the time of the incident.
Berkeley police spokesperson Officer Byron White mentioned there was a tent near the scene but couldn't confirm whether the victim was inside it.
The driver, a 40-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of DUI, with potential further charges as the investigation is still ongoing.
