It's high time San Jose recognize site of historic Grateful Dead show
Briefly

San Jose is officially recognizing its significant role in Grateful Dead history, specifically as the site of the band's first concert under that name on December 4, 1965. Founders of San Jose Rocks, Dan Orloff and Mark Purdy, are spearheading efforts to commemorate this milestone with a public celebration and plaque. The original performance took place at an acid test venue and has been linked to various historical narratives. A fundraising campaign is currently in progress to gather $35,000 for the anniversary event, further solidifying San Jose's place in music history.
"The Grateful Dead actually got their start in downtown San Jose on Dec. 4, 1965, performing at one of Ken Kesey's acid tests where LSD was as much a part of the scene as the music and lights."
"A San Jose City Council committee signed off on the idea earlier this year, and a campaign is underway to raise $35,000 by June 30 for the 60th anniversary celebration."
